Gould - Yellow-rumped Toucan 1833
This magnificent lithographic print of the Lemon-rumped Toucan (Ramphastos Citreopygus) is from A Monograph of the Ramphastidae, or Family of Toucans by John Gould and issued between 1833-35. First edition.
This plate is number 4 from this work and was drawn and lithographed by John and Elizabeth Gould.
This first edition contained 33 hand coloured lithographic plates by and after Edward Lear and John and Elizabeth Gould, and heightened with gum Arabic, printed by Charles Hullmandel.
The toucan family is limited to Mexico, Central and South America and some West Indian islands.
Size: 21.5in x 14in (54.5cm x 35.5 cm).
