3 prints of birds eggs by Henry Seebohm 1896
These original chromolithographs are from the last work of the noted British ornithologist Henry Seebohm – Coloured Figures of the Eggs of British Birds (1896).
The prints illustrate eggs of terns, gulls, kittiwake and skuas.
Seebohm was born in Bradford, England. He was one of the first European ornithologists to accept the American trinomial system to classify sub-species. Organized by type: Shorebird, Songbird, and Bird of Prey and arranged by size, these egg plates are richly produced from a multitude of stones, allowing for subtle variation of color not commonly found in many egg prints.
Size: 6.5in x 10in (16cm x 26cm)
Condition: The prints are in excellent condition – please inspect the image carefully as they are very accurate.
