Lot 6322: 2 Maps Asia Minor and Turkey by J&C Walker
The engraved map of Asia Minor was engraved by J & C Walker 1846. It is from Maps of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, published by Charles Knight & Co, Steel engraving of Turkey, containing the Southern Part of Greece and Candia by J&C Walker, published for the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK) by Baldwin & Cradock, 47, Paternoster Row, London September 1st 1829. Map shows the Peloponnese (peninsula in the south of Greece), Crete (Candia), the Cyclades and a view of the Acropolis in Athens. Size: 11.6in x 14.5in (29.5cm x 37cm) Ludgate Street, London. The map shows the provinces in Turkey of Karaman, Rumili & Anadoli together with Cyprus, Rhodes and other Greek islands with original outline hand colouring. Size: 12.75 x 16.5 inches (32.5 x 42.0cm)
