This print is from James Bolton’s "Harmonia Ruralis; Or, An Essay Towards a Natural History of British Song Birds: Illustrated with Figures, the Size of Life, of the Birds, Male and Female, in Their Most Natural Attitudes; Their Nests and Eggs, Food, Favorite Plants, shrubs, Trees &c. &c. Faithfully drawn, Engraved, and coloured after Nature. Revised first edition 1824.
Bolton was an English naturalist, botanist, mycologist, and illustrator. James and his older brother, Thomas were keen naturalists, Thomas having a particular interest in entomology and ornithology.
