This hand-coloured engraving is from Plates Illustrative of Natural History by Josiah Wood Whymper. Published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, London 1843.
The wood-engraved plate has original hand-colouring with explanatory text beneath. The colouring of the images is clear and bright.
Josiah Wood Whymper (1813 – 1903) was a British wood-engraver, book illustrator and watercolourist and his wood-engraving enterprise became one of London’s most successful.
Size: 11in x 13.5in (28cm x 34cm)
Condition: The print is in excellent condition with minor paper loss – please inspect the image carefully as it is very accurate.
