Moths - Lepidoptera by Moses Harris 1776
This original hand-coloured copper-plate engraving of Moths – Lepidoptera is from An Exposition of English Insects by Moses Harris. Printed for the author by Messrs Robson & Co London 1776.
The prints are based on illustrations by the British entomologist and engraver Moses Harris (1730-1788) and feature insects including flies, bees, dragonflies and moths accurately drawn and highly finished in colours from nature. Harris also authored the text accompanying each print and was the artist and engraver for the insect prints in this series.
Size: 9in x 11in (23cm x 28cm)
Condition: The print is in excellent condition – please inspect the image carefully as it is very accurate.
