These beautiful wood engravings are from Alpine Plants: Figures and Descriptions of some of the Most Striking and Beautiful of the Alpine Flowers by David Wooster, F.R.H.S. Published by Bell and Daldy, London 1872. The 6 prints comprise:Lychnis Viscaria Splendens & Cypripedium Calceolus;Linaria Origanifolia, Sempervivum Arachnoideum & Aquilegia Pyrenaica;Campanula Turbinata & Papaver Nudicaule;Linnaea Borealis, Trientalis Europaea & Hypericum Nummularium;Sedum Reflexum & Aster Alpinus;Cypripedium Spectabile.These exquisitely coloured wood engravings (xylographs) were made from multiple blocks, prepared and printed by Benjamin Fawcett of Driffield, based on the watercolor paintings of Alexander Francis Lydon.
