These antique prints are from British Mosses, Their Homes, Aspects, Structure, and Uses. With a Coloured Figure of Each Species Etched from Nature by F.E.Tripp. Published by George Bell and Sons, London, 1888. The beautifully and colourful illustrations in this work on mosses found in Britain were drawn by Tripp, etched in copper and hand-coloured by Benjamin Fawcett, Driffield. This work on British mosses, uses a simplified language, whilst still offering minute detail about the structure, habits, and appearances of the mosses. Frances Elizabeth Tripp (1832-90) was an amateur bryologist who also wrote children’s books. Size: approx. 7.5in x 10in (19cm x 25cm)
