This original lithograph of a Queen Carola’s Parotia aka Queen Carola’s six-wired bird-of-paradise (Parotia Carolae) is from John Gould’s Monograph of the Birds of Paradise and Bower Birds 1891-98.

This plate is number 14 from volume 2 of this work and was drawn and lithographed by JG Keulemans and William Hart.

Gould died before he could commence work on the project, but Henry Sotheran Ltd published it from 1891-98 with text by Dr Richard Bowdler-Sharpe.

Size: Approximately 22in x 15in (52cm x 36cm)
