These chromolithograph prints are after drawings by Harrison Weir and are from The Poultry Book by WB Tegetmeier, published by George Routledge and Sons, London 1867.

The birds illustrated are Coloured Dorking, Black-breasted Red Game, White Cochin Cock & Dark Brahmas.

They are from the first edition of this vibrantly illustrated study of the breeding and management of the domestic fowl of England, from prominent Victorian naturalist William Tegetmeier, FZS, who was a personal friend of Charles Darwin. Harrison Weir was a natural history artist and cat enthusiast, who founded the National Cat Club and organised the first cat show in England.
