These hand-finished colour wood-cut engravings are from Edward Lowe’s Our Native Ferns published by Groombridge & Sons, London, 1869.
The engravings are of: Asplenium Adiantum – Nigrum; Asplenium Marinum; Asplenium Marinum – Varieties; Asplenium Trichomanes.
This is one of several books on British ferns and grasses written by the Nottingham naturalist and illustrated with wood-engraved plates drawn by AF Lydon and printed in colour by Benjamin Fawcett of Driffield.
