This original 200-year-old etching of the Abbey Church of St. Etienne, Caen – Nave is from Architectural Antiquities of Normandy by John Sell Cotman. Published in London by J. & A. Arch in 1822.
This soft-ground etching is on cream wove paper with wide margins.
John Sell Cotman (1782-1842) was one of the most important artists from the golden age of English watercolour painting.
